Low Carb Diets: Why People Fail To Lose Weight
Why Low Carb Diets Don't Work
Low carb diets fail for a variety of reasons. Don’t believe me? Read on to discover why they fail–and what you can do about it.
Low carb diets are too hard for the average person to follow. The restrictions and food limitations are more than most people want to bear. After all, who wants to give up bread? Giving up basics like bread is just too much to ask from the average person. You might as well eat survival rations.
Low carb diets are unhealthy. Your body needs carbohydrates for several reasons. The most obvious reason is that carbohydrates give you energy. Possibly the main reason most people get off of low-carb diets is because they just don’t have enough energy to make it throughout the day. And this can actually be dangerous if you’re already carrying around a lot of weight.
The body also uses carbohydrates for brain function. You need a certain amount of carbohydrates to think clearly and be sharp, just like you need a certain amount of fat to keep brain cell walls healthy. When you combine low brain-function with low energy, what do you get? You get off that kind of diet, is what you get.
If you happen to be exercising for weight loss or just general all-around improvement, the low-carb diet can be seriously unhealthy for you. If you’re lucky, this just means means you’ll have to quit your workout sooner than normal, or that it won’t be as intense as you wanted. But not everybody is lucky.
Working out when you have little muscle-fuel in the form of carbohydrates can mean you faint – something disasterous if you’re on a treadmill, and potentially evenmore disasterous if you’re lifteing weights. Faint while doing the bench press and you could crush your throat!
Worst of all, working out with little energy like this could lead to brain damage and/or potential heart attack. The more overweight and out of shape, the more risk of this. Low carb diets just aren’t worth the risk, if you exercise at all.
Children should NEVER go on a low carb diet. Low carb diets can be unhealthy and down right dangerous, even for the few who are able to follow them. Luckily, there are diets that don’t require such an incredible narrowing of food choices, or an unhealthy, partially nutritious eating regime.
